T-BOW® Technical Development

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

Practical and Robust:

Multifunctional bow made of synthetic fiber (high-density polyethylene) or natural wood, developed for more than 10 years at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), since 2005, finalist for the ISPO Brand New Award 2006, Germany. Its dimensions (70x50x17 cm.) And structural design make it possible to use it in a reduced space and to be stacked (more than 40 units with great stability), saving space. It has non-slip natural rubber feet, a narrow surface at the ends prepared for precise support and bilateral control of the foot; three holes on each side that provide an easy fixation of all types of rubbers and elastic bands, great manageability and a practical grip for transport.

It is useful on both sides, with a granulate on the concave surface that makes the supports safer and a mat on the convex part that is reactive, sensitive and comfortable to body contact. The synthetic fiber T-BOW® has been evaluated for extraordinary resistance to static loads (more than 400 Kg.) And dynamic loads (more than 350 Kg.), In its stable and unstable positions, fully recovering its structure and functionality. Perfectly balanced, with a relatively low weight (3.2 kg for synthetic fiber and 4.7 kg for natural wood) and a healthy elasticity changes its inertia very quickly and reactively. It is easily kept hygienic and its properties guarantee a long service life.

Multifunctional:

The possibility of the T-BOW® to train in its concave-unstable and convex-stable position, as well as to be combined with other mobile materials (T-band, rubber bands, weighted balls, dumbbells, bars, discs, kettlebels, balls, pikes, ...) and fitness machines, it allows designing an endless repertoire of differential exercises for all coordinative and balance factors (motor control, special implementation and temporal adaptation), conditional (strength-speed, endurance, flexibility-mobility and relaxation) and cognitive (spatio-temporal perceptions, rhythm, and those related to decision-making), thus achieving an extraordinary versatility of application to group sessions and personalized training in the fields of health-fitness, Yoga, physiotherapy, training-education motor skills, postural correction techniques such as Pilates, recreation and wellness.

Special Static-Dynamic Equilibrium Options (unstable concave position):

The balances (lateral, frontal and mixed) in foot, hand, sitting and triple-quadruple supports are a differentiating source to optimize coordinative capacities of motor, spatial and temporal control. The elastic and inertial property of T-BOW® in the face of fine movements causing very rapid and reactive changes in any situation of static-dynamic equilibrium hyperstimulates proprioceptive awareness, perception of differential tone and control of the situation-displacement of the center of gravity, optimizing the global balance. Its narrow ends force to rebalance the support with both sides of the foot, hyperstimulating segmental independence at the level of intra-intersegmental tonic differentiation, perception of trajectories and speeds, and rhythmic control optimizing segmental balance.

Swinging is also used therapeutically for eccentric hamstring muscle building, decreasing hyperextension of the foot, preventing Achilles tendon inflammation, and stabilizing the joints of the foot, ankle, knee, shoulder, and spine. When combined with the T-Bands, coordinative sequences are constructed to give extraordinary priority to static-dynamic relaxation (segmental and global) and resistance involving parts of the whole body. Its arched design and the possibility of performing the different balances around a single axis allow a gradation of imbalances from very simple levels, providing security to the beginner. Swinging with foot supports, apart from being performed with gym shoes or barefoot, is also possible with socks that have good grip, and in the case of the T-BOW® made of natural wood with conventional socks.

Special Trunk Support and Strength-Mobility Options (stable convex position):

The multiple foot rests to go up-down-turn-jump-move- are extended with supports and jumps in convex inclined plane and at different heights on a healthy elastic surface for the joints and applicable for daily actions and sports. The hand, forearm and knee supports are comfortable and sensitive, allowing multiple flexion-extension exercises and the adoption of postures. The hip supports being raised to different heights make the postures for stretching and mobility easier.

Its arched design favors a physiological adaptation to the curvatures of the spine and great stability and reactivity, enhancing (with degrees of amplitude greater than a flat base) its mobility in extension, flexion and rotation, as well as the strengthening of the musculature. front, rear (with priority of low or high back) and lateral of the trunk selectively according to the position of the hip on the T-BOW® and the mobilization of the trunk, hip or legs. By associating the T-Band with it, the deep and smaller intervertebral muscles of the back can be asymmetrically affected, especially at the level of dorsal kyphosis, and on the cervical muscle balance to prevent-rehabilitate neck pain.

T-Band as an ideal complement:

Its design with a single and a double elastic band forming a loop attached to the ball, allows three levels of tension (static, increasing and decreasing) and allows a quick fixation in the lateral holes of the T-BOW®, avoiding friction of the bands, lengthening their life and allowing the creation of infinite exercises in their stable and unstable positions.

Double T-BOW® as an advanced resource:

There are two alternatives when placing one T-BOW® on top of the other (contact between its concave parts or contact between its convexities) to achieve a dynamic convex surface or a broader, multi-directional swing situation. Both options expand the repertoire of T-BOW® differential exercises in an extraordinary way.
