THE STORY OF THE T-BAND

T-BOW® Elastic Bands

Invented by Viktor Denoth
Developed by Viktor Denoth and Sandra Bonacina

Sandra Bonacin wanted the possibility of varied strength training with individual levels and gradual increases in performance. Two meters of elastic bands are enough to thread through the holes in the middle of the sides of the bow and have two separate bands on each side. So you could take one band for an easier workout and two bands for a stronger one.

Viktor Denoth then perfected the elastic bands so that more than one or two could be introduced into training programs. A strong tape below the T-BOW® connected three 1 meter tapes on each side, which were threaded through the holes in the middle of the sides.

Viktor Denoth's idea to recycle old tennis balls holding three cushions was a decisive success. Since then the durability of the bands is much greater. Another great advantage is that broken single belts can be easily replaced, thus reducing the cost of renewing them.

For group fitness sessions, where quick changeover from one exercise to another is important, it is best to use the professional T-Bands, one single and one double attached to a tennis ball. They are bicolor: 1 meter orange and 2 meters blue, forming a loop. In this way it is possible to quickly change from 1 to 2 or 3 bands, varying the levels of force required.

THE STORY OF THE T-BOW®

Large gym balls are popular for physical therapy training, but they need a lot of space, are relatively soft and unresponsive to fix body parts well, and are difficult to transport. Instead, Sandra Bonacina was looking for a simple, symmetrical arch.

When the Center for Rappelling-Climbing and Mountaineering was built in Schlieren, Switzerland, in 1994, Viktor Denoth discovered some curved plywood sheets (curved sheets of wood), made of several layers of wood glued together, which were used for overhangs in the steep routes. Sandra Bonacina and Viktor Denoth calculated and tested the best radius and soon built the first multifunctional training bow.

The University of Zürich and the Academic Sports Association Zürich (ASVZ) were offered the opportunity to introduce the T-BOW® to test it as a means of circuit training and as a tool for strengthening core muscles in the room of gymnastics. Since 1996, the bow has become a widely used device for strengthening the abdominal, back, and lateral trunk muscles.

Sandra Bonacina wanted to do more with this instrument and had the idea of adding holes in the sides of the bow so that she could incorporate resistance bands into training exercises. Thus the whole body could be trained with more alternatives.

Likewise, he also wanted to use both sides of the arch; one side as a "step" for "cardio" and "trunk toning and mobility training", and the other side as a seesaw for balance training and swing coordination. Viktor Denoth made a non-slip cover for the concave side of the bow. Now the bow became versatile and multifunctional for training strength, endurance, balance, speed-reactivity and flexibility.

The Prototype had been created and was ready to be patented.

The "T" in the T-BOW® stands for Training bow and also Therapy bow.

T-BOW® Training and Therapy Bow

The T-BOW® was developed over more than 10 years (1994-2006) by Sandra Bonacina in collaboration with Viktor Denoth, both university professors at the Institute of Movement and Sports Sciences at the University of Zurich._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

Since 1996 it has been used in the fitness and gymnastics halls of the University of Zurich as a material for strengthening the trunk muscles and for training the overall balance of the back.

In 2005 an advanced phase of the meticulous and intensive development of the multifunctional application possibilities of T-BOW® is completed. Sandra Bonacina experiments with collaborating students from the University of Zurich the multiple ways of implementing the T-BOW® in the field of Fitness and Health, and its use is effectively consolidated in sports and fitness centers throughout Switzerland.

On the other hand, based on the original T-BOW® built from natural wood in 1995, a synthetic fiber prototype (high-density polyethylene) is designed that has the advantage of extraordinary resistance to high loads, its ease of keeping hygienic and clean , and its greater practicality to be stacked safely.
